Attempt II

OK, apparently the Tequila Puke color was part of the background and couldn't be suppressed, at least by someone with an HTML background as impoverished as mine. So I have switched to this deeply boring template for now. I trust no one comes here for the layout anyway, given the state of the old blog.

  • I'm trying very hard to procrastinate. Can you set up the old template at your dev site so I can take a look?

  • You mean the Tequila Puke one? You got it.

    By Blogger RaulGroom, at January 7, 2005 at 7:49 PM

  • Alright - i've got. There are two steps. First, change the following line:

    #sidebar #description {border: solid 1px #BFFC45; ...

    modify the hex number to the color you want. For a darker green, I'd start at #006600 and work from there, increasing or decreasing the 66 as you see fit.
    That will cover the sidebar.

    The second part is more complicated, as it involves the graphic. You have to take it into Photoshop and change the hue of that green to the new color you select. If you don't have Photoshop or whatnot, email me the color you choose, and I'll get it changed for you by Monday.

    It is a cool design, minus the Tequila Puke. Arguably, however, you are simply moving to Jager puke - it's just more aaesthetically pleasing.

  • Yeah, I was able to change all the colors except the graphic (I did use 006660), but without changing the graphic it looks worse than ever. I think changing the graphic is probably illegal, though I doubt anyone would care.

  • Gotta change the color in these two lines as well:

    a {color: #93DB04; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;}
    a:visited {color: #839D07;}

    That a:visited color makes me want to claw my eyeballs out with a rusty hand trowel.

  • Illegal? You mean against bloggers rules? Or did that jackass in Virginia move on to image manipulation after he got through with miscarriages?

    Anyway, that's what you need to do to fix it. And yeah, don't use it all if you don't want to change the graphic.

  • Well, the image was created by someone, and is being offered for use (I presume) in its unedited form.

  • Rual,

    Thank you so much for featuring me on your site. Any time I get under the skin of a liberal I know that I have done something right. It is about 6:30PM now and my site has been hit 248 times with 512 click throughs today. A total of three of them came from your site and I was one of them as I tested your link. Maybe you were one of the other two?

    Based upon the comments on this post and the flood of traffic, I can see that many many people care about what you have to say.

    Please let me know how long you intend on keeping me up as bad site of the day because I might have to line up a dedicated server to handle the massive amount traffic that I can expect to get from your heavily visited site.

    Have a great day and thank you once again for the plug.

  • Uh, hey Dan. Hi. I'm Vampire Elf. Not my real name. I know, most people would probably find that to be pretty obvious, but then again, you just posted in the thread about Raul's site development instead of the thread about your blog, so I'm guessing reading comprehension isn't exactly your bag. Judging by your statement about hits and click-through, math appears to be a trouble spot as well.

    Anyway, I'm the token libertarian around these parts. I used to be a Republican, but after a while I came to the conclusion that both major parties really desire power more than they desire actual progress. Also I got really tired of listening to people like you.

    Don't get me wrong - there are plenty of mindless liberals out here on the internet, too. But for the most part, they aren't here. These people aren't stupid followers - they care about the same things you and I do, but they simple have different base assumptions on their view about the world. Are they wrong - well, sure, about some things. But so are you. And so am I. One of the reasons I like spending time here is because if I didn't challenge my own personal beliefs constantly to try and better shape my view of the world, I'd probably become - well, you.

    For the record, I know Raul pretty well, and I sincerely doubt you got under his skin. But even if you had, getting under the skin of someone is usually pretty easy. Changing their mind is the hard part. Something for the little Republican toady to think about.

    PS - You make a great point about Paris Hilton.

  • Oh, and Raul. We could always just design a new graphic in the right color scheme to line up with the rest of layout. Shouldn't be hard.

    Sorry to post about development stuff in the development thread, I don't know what I was thinking.
